Family Learning and Health ‹ Back to Courses
Our English for Speakers of Other Languages and Family Learning tutor identified a need to support learners to access, understand and interact with the Irish health care providers. We piloted a Family Health course focusing on the language around health, practicing role-play e.g. visiting the doctor, making appointments, going to the hospital. The course was very well attended and learners have requested to continue. Course details attached below please adapt to suit your own group.
Participants in Family Health learn how to:
- Talk about their body
- Say what is wrong
- Make appointments at the GP and the hospital
- Use the language of health for themselves and their family.
- The course helps people to understand health services in Ireland, healthy eating and where to go for help e.g. out of hours services.
