Happy Christmas from Clare Family Learning Project

1. Our big news is that Leargas has validated our Family Learning Tutor Training as a
Grundtvig Training for Trainers planned for 13-17th October 2009.
Irish tutors can attend for the usual 3 days training for 300 euro.
International visitors will attend for 5 days for 500 euro which will include visits to family learning in action and a cultural immersion trip. International visitors will be funded by their own EU national agency and Irish tutors will be funded through their own organisations.
The course outline is available to download from

2. Two Traveller Women groups attended classes twice weekly this term. Both groups ended with great achievements. Group A culminated in producing Traveller Life - a booklet launched by Bishop Walsh as part of Traveller Focus Week on December 5th. This was written by the members of the group so that their children would have a record of what life was like as a Traveller. Group B wanted to raise funds for Console a suicide awareness organisation. As part of their cookery class they organised a coffee morning and raised 367 euro which was presented to a representative from Console the following week. The posters were made in their IT class. The event was a lovely way to integrate Travellers and other students and staff in the centre.

3. Family learning DVD has been filmed and is being edited. We hope to launch this as part of Aontas Learning Festival in Feburary.
